El Paso Jazz Girls is a non-profit organization for young female musicians to learn about jazz, meet each other, play together, and create a support system. Our mission is to empower girls in a supportive community that fosters self-expression, confidence, and collaboration through music education and performance.
Amanda Ekery founded El Paso Jazz Girls to create a practical, direct intervention for gender equality in her hometown's jazz community. After Ekery learned that in the past decade only 7 girls have made Texas Jazz All-State, she began planning and organizing the first El Paso Jazz Girls' clinic in 2018.
El Paso Jazz Girls is a resource for young females. Whether it's improvising, booking your own gigs, navigating college auditions, or needing positive role models to support any of your creative endeavors - El Paso Jazz Girls is here for you.
